The Global Drug Facility (GDF) Regional Quantification Workshop on Tuberculosis Medicines, taking place from October 14-18, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya, is designed to strengthen national TB medicine procurement and supply management capacities. The workshop aims to equip participants from Anglophone and Francophone African countries with the skills to conduct accurate TB medicine quantification, ensure adequate supply chain planning, and prevent stockouts. Participants are introduced to the QuanTB tool, enabling them to analyse real-time national data and make informed decisions.
Key speakers at the workshop include representatives from the Stop TB Partnership and national TB programs, who provide insights into procurement strategies, data sharing, and integrating new TB treatment regimens. The workshop features hands-on sessions where participants work on actual national quantification files and update procurement plans.
The event focuses on building long-term strategies for scaling up new, shorter TB treatment regimens and minimising medicine wastage. Participants leave the workshop with actionable outputs that can be directly applied to their TB programs, ensuring better medicine accessibility and management across the region.
